The 7th International Conference on Herbal Medicine concluded today with a range of magnificent presenters breaking through the barriers of research and development.
The National Herbalists Association of Australia hold this conference every three years in Australia and this year 33 international and local presenters educated the professionals within the audience with the latest and most important issues pertaining to herbal medicine today.

7th International Conference on Herbal Medicine day two was jam packed with the latest research and developments globally, presenting practical information on iridology, the health secrets of fermentation, sacred and monastry gardens in England and Australia, and Medicinal foods.
Dr Mary Bove from USA spoke on paediatric attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) revealing emerging research in herbal medicine, nutrition, and environmental factors. She highlighted research indicates that specific forms of exercise such as martial arts are specifically beneficial for children with ADHD, and discussed numerous herbal medicines that show significant promise for this conditions.

Day one of the National Herbalists Association of Australia's (NHAA) 7th International Conference on Herbal Medicine was jam packed with a number of informative and relevant presentations. The conference was opened by fourth generation herbalist Lyndsay Shume and included keynote speakers who covered topics from Aboriginal bush medicine; vitality and herbal medicine; and cervical dysplasia, HPV and vaccination.

Herbalists Applaud Government Stance on Cigarette Packaging

The National Herbalist’s Association of Australia (NHAA), the peak organisation representing herbalists and naturopaths in Australia, applauds the federal government plans to force cigarette manufacturers to use plain packaging for their products.
“The use of tobacco products directly results in over 15,000 deaths each year in Australia.” says John Baxter, president of the association. “Apart from the misery inflicted on smokers and their families, there is an enormous burden placed on the health care system by users of these products.”

National Herbalists Support Call For Registration

The National Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA) comes out firmly in support of the former President of the AMA, Dr Kerryn Phelps in her call for the regulation of natural therapists.
“In the current legal climate, anybody may claim to be a herbalist or a naturopath without any training at all and there is no way for the public to distinguish between a qualified practitioner and a layperson.” says John Baxter, President of the Association. “We have urged successive governments to regulate the professions of herbal medicine and naturopathy to protect the public.”
