There was a great range of high quality speakers from around the globe at the International Conference on Herbal Medicine held by the National Herbalists Association of Australia in July this year.

Dominique Finney conducted some interesting interviews with many of the speakers about their topics, which provide a taste of the quality information presented at this prestigious event.

The 5th International Congress of Complementary Medicine Research 2010: A review

In May earlier this year, the fifth International Congress of Complementary Medicine Research (ICCMR) was held in the northern Norwegian city of Tromso. This is an annual conference which is held in various locations around the globe, rotating between North America, Europe and Australasia and was in fact held in Sydney in 2008. The fifth congress attracted approximately 400 delegates and was a showcase for over 300 oral and poster presentations. I personally counted 19 Australians who had travelled to the Arctic circle from downunder to present at the conference, giving us more than adequate representation at this international event.

National Herbal Medicine Week events announced

Come and celebrate one of the many public events being held across the country in celebration of National Herbal Medicine Week from 13–19 September 2010. Organised by the oldest complementary medicine association in Australia, the National Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA), the week celebrates hundreds of years of herbal medicine history.

The theme this year is Community Gardens, Community Health. Over the week people can meet and mingle with herbalists and sip herbal teas while attending free talks and guided garden tours at major events in Sydney, Adelaide and Newcastle.
