From Erica McIntyre.
Many people experience sleep problems, but fortunately we have some wonderful herbs that can help. Lavandula officinalis (French lavender) is the most commonly used variety of lavender in herbal medicine. Known for its calming effect on the nervous system it is a nice addition to a herbal tea before bed.
This tea also contains Passiflora incarnata commonly known as passion flower which has hypnotic properties that help to induce sleep; together with the addition of chamomile (Matricaria recutita), a gently sedative herb, this is a beautifully flavoured tea that is a pleasure to drink.
Place 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile, lavender, passion flower and into a 2 cup tea pot. Pour boiling water over the herbs and leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes.
Drink after dinner. This tea will also help to calm the digestive system and may relieve bloating.
Note: Loose dried herbs are available from many health food shops and food co-ops.
