Chapter Meetings

NHAA local chapters are groups set up and run by NHAA full members in their local communities. They are open to both members and non members and are aimed at supporting and encouraging networking within their local area, they run regular meetings, talks, outings and events and are a valuable source of support and information for all that attend. Other benefits include:

  • Students & non members are welcome to participate.
  • Talks & presentations on a wide range of topics relevant to Herbal Medicine.

Herbal Manufacturing Workshop: Julie Wilkinson Flores and Jan Illingworth

This evenings’ talk is about herbal blending inspirations, revisiting the essentials of quality herbal manufacturing and the ways to further utilise extemporaneous dispensing for therapeutic advantage of both family & friends and in clinic. Facilitating the fun evening are Julie & Jan who, between them, have over half a century of utilising herbs clinically as foods and medicines for all ages.

Looking at health and wellness through the lens of community, there will be an opportunity for hands on herbs; to touch, smell and taste herbs along with increasing your herb ID skills. Drawing upon classic & contemporary combinations of herbal therapeutic forms, and how to get maximum therapeutics into your topical and ingestible products.

About Julie & Jan
Julie Wilkinson Flores is a herbalist, naturopath and educator. With post graduate studies in both herbal medicine and tertiary education, she has supported many students through their botany, manufacturing and materia medica subjects, along with their clinical practicum. This year Julie has been growing, foraging & harvesting and processing herbs, where she has been developing a medicinal herb garden in Wangaratta.

Jan Illingworth, a naturopath and retired nurse with a background in farming and a passion for community health, plants and our profession. Jan has formulated a wide range of therapeutic tea/infusion blends and has spent years proactively promoting the evidence of their efficacy to the broader community.

Julie and Jan have both previously been on the committee of Vic Herbs for many years and love using herbs and trying to make them accessible for everyone.
