Position Statement NHAA – Registration

The Naturopath and Herbalist Association of Australia (NHAA) is calling for the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) to recognise and register our health profession. 

Registration is a standard the organisation has worked towards for 100 years. It is hugely important to protect the Australian public from those who practice without qualifications. 

Without registration, NHAA cannot ensure that the title of our health profession is protected – meaning that individuals who do not meet the training and/or practice standards of a naturopath or herbalist could not use the title and put our practice at risk. Without registration and enforceable minimum standards our profession will continue to be marred by unqualified individuals, with no protection of the public.  

Registration has a primary focus of protecting the public by upholding minimum standards for the profession, and until this is achieved in Australia for Naturopaths and Herbalists, the public and our profession will continue to be put at
